It is a community where its citizens share their triumphs, victories, joys and accomplishments; as well as their sorrows, struggles, disappointments and pain.  A place where the concepts of individual self and selfishness dissolve to reveal the meaning of Communion; where collective strength and wholeness emerge from individual brokenness, a love and common bond is realized that transcends all apparent differences and circumstances; where each individual is recognized for having a purpose, unique gifts and valued for their contributions; where people celebrate the gift of life as its mission and the conscious realization of unity with God as its goal.

 

While steeped in tradition, the community employs technology to the greatest extent beneficial to all its inhabitants and celebrates the joys of life and living.

 

To the greatest extent possible:

1.  We build our own homes, grow our own food, pump our own water, generate and harvest renewable energy.

2.  We preserve, replenish and nurture the indigenous wild life, forests, farm lands and natural water ways.

3.  We rejoice in community celebrations upon the land honoring all creation.

4.  We believe that happy people are well people.

The Village Place is a modern small farm community in northwest Louisiana that promotes self reliant sustainable living.  It is committed to maintaining a symbiotic partnership with the natural environment and mankind while living lightly upon the planet earth by giving back as much as it takes.  It recognizes and encourages the uniqueness of individual talents and the contributions as a result of those talents to the community from the young and the old.
